Quetta Water Supply and Environmental Improvement Project
Project Description

The scope of work regarding the Quetta Water Supply and Environmental Improvement Project (QWSEIP) has been revised. Earlier, the approved cost of the project was Rs. 7,965 million, which has now been revised to Rs. 17,093 million. The QWSEIP is one of the mega projects approved by ECNEC in water supply sector. The objectives of the project are to develop and utilize all possible water resources, both surface and underground, in and around Quetta to meet the water requirements of inhabitants of Quetta City and to improve environmental condition of city through providing sewerage and drainage facilities.

The revised scope of work consists of the following: Rehabilitation of water supply pipelines (375 km), replacement of shallow tube-wells (220 Nos.), new tube-wells in hard rock (49 Nos.), laying of new conduction and distribution water pipelines (1130 KM), construction of ground and elevated water tanks (27 Nos.), laying of sewerage system (80 km), construction of wastewater treatment plants (3 Nos.), rehabilitation of storm water drainage channels/nullahs (12500 m) and enhancement of ground water recharge measures (1 No.)
