Project Description

After successful completion and operation of Metro Bus Project Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab envisioned the Metro Bus Rawalpindi-Islamabad and instructed NESPAK for a presentation with focus on quick way forward on January 2, 2014.

A presentation to the Chief Minister was made on January 8, 2014 followed by a meeting on January 14, 2014 in which MBS priority corridor options were thoroughly discussed and timelines were decided. Another presentation was made to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister Punjab on January 19, 2014 where priority corridor options, cost sharing and administrative issues were discussed and the project was endorsed by the Provincial Cabinet on February 1, 2014.

The Rawalpindi section of the project will begin from the Flashman's Hotel on Mall Road and end at the Faizabad flyover, thus, serving residents of the adjacent areas of Murree Road.
