The Government has appointed Mr. Asad I.A. Khan, a renowned
Architect, as the Managing Director of NESPAK. He joined NESPAK in
1985 and was serving as Vice President & Head of Architecture &
Planning Division for the last 10 years. As an Architect, Asad is
well versed in the various disciplines of engineering construction
supervision and Project management.
Grand son of Nawab Ismail Khan, a front rank leader of Pakistan
movement and son of a renowned ICS officer Mr. I.A. Khan, Asad
was the senior most Vice President and Convenor of the Board of
Management of NESPAK.
He obtained his architecture degree from the National College of
Arts, Lahore in 1978 and then proceeded to USA where he got his
Master’s degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1983
and on return joined NESPAK, as a Senior Architect. In quick
succession, Asad won several design competitions for NESPAK and
was instrumental in the formation of a full fledged Architectural
& Planning Divisions in NESPAK.
An Architect of repute, Asad I. A. Khan has in his portfolio many
projects of national importance, such as Prime Minister’s House,
Prime Minister’s Secretariat; Air and Naval Headquarters Complexes
in Islamabad; Karachi Expo Center; Islamabad Stock Exchange
Building besides designing several reputed Projects including
Pakistan Embassies in Thailand, Bahrain, Dhaka, Moscow and
Muscat.
As Head of Architecture and Planning Division Karachi, he has also
to his credit the designing of several important projects
including the Township of PARCO Mid-Country Oil Refinery in
Mahmoodkot and Textile City at Port Qasim, Karachi.
Mr. Asad I.A. Khan, besides being a keen golfer having
represented Pakistan, is playing an equally important role in the
promotion of sports and is the Captain of Karachi Golf Club;
Vice-President of Sindh Golf Association and Member, Executive
Committee of Pakistan Golf Federation. He is also associated with
the Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP) as its
elected member.
His father
Mr. I .A. Khan had been the Chairman of the Board of Control for
Cricket in Pakistan (BCCP) and remained Manager of Pakistan Team
on foreign tours. He served as Secretary Economic Affairs and
Chairman WAPDA during his course of service.
